Brentwood is known for many things, one of which is that the Grand Ole Opry has always been beamed all over the central U.S. from an 878-foot tower at the geographical center of Brentwood. The town was incorporated in 1969 and since then has strictly adhered to one-home-per-acre density. Native Americans are thought to have lived in the area as long as 2,000 years ago. European settlement dates to the late 1780's with the first settlers thought to have lived near Old Smyrna Road and Wilson Pike. The population of Brentwood is approximately 35 thousand.
